Scripture Study
Please read the scriptures "Exodus 25:1-9, 29:38-46" first, and then discuss the following questions together.
1. Where did the materials for building the tabernacle come from? What were the basic conditions for people to offer gifts?
Answer: All the materials needed for the construction were donated by the Israelites, and the basic condition for donation was willingness.
2. Why must the tabernacle be built according to the pattern indicated by God and not designed according to human heart?
Answer: The tabernacle is God's dwelling place, representing God's presence with the Israelites. Of course, it was designed according to God's standards rather than human standards. On the other hand, it also shows that people should not follow their own will in their lives, even in the things they do for God, but should live according to God's will. Furthermore, the furnishings and utensils in the tabernacle have rich spiritual meanings. They are tools for God to reveal himself to the Israelites, and of course they must be made according to the style instructed by God (see reference materials).
3. When did God ordain that burnt offerings should be offered? How long should they be offered? What does the law of offering burnt offerings remind us of?
A: Burnt offerings were offered twice, in the morning and evening, and were offered from generation to generation. The offerings included meat, flour, and wine, which were the basic foods that ordinary people ate on a daily basis. It meant to offer up completely or to give up one's life.
4. What does the existence of the tabernacle indicate about the relationship between God and the Israelites? (Exodus 29:43-46)
Answer: The tabernacle represents the presence of God and His chosen people. It represents the establishment of the relationship between God and man, and shows that Jehovah is the God of Israel and the Israelites are God’s people.
5. Exodus 29:46 explains God’s purpose in saving the Israelites. What is God’s purpose in saving you today?
Answer: Today God has saved me, Christ is with me, and the Holy Spirit is in my heart, so that I can bear witness to His glory in my life (see John 14).
6. How should “God’s presence” be practiced in our current living environment?
Answer: (This is a sharing question, and there is no specific answer. The point is to remind students that faith life is not separate from daily life. We are not believers only when we attend Sunday gatherings or are in church.)
7.Try to share what impact God’s presence has on your life?
Answer: (This is a sharing question, there is no specified answer.)
